Choose the right ceramic ink, avoid hidden cost traps
Ceramic ink accounts for a small proportion of tile production costs, yet it directly determines the first-grade product rate and customer return rate. Opt for the wrong ink, and you may only save a few yuan per kilogram in price difference, but end up losing money on printhead maintenance fees and downtime incurred from color matching adjustments. When selecting ink, focus on three core technical indicators alone:
Color Development Capacity: Calculate cost per square meter instead of price per kilogram
Ask suppliers to conduct scraper tests using black-blue ceramic inks, then fire all samples in the kiln together. The ink that yields deeper, brighter colors after firing boasts superior color development power. Low-unit-price ink with weak color saturation requires higher ink output to achieve the same decorative effect, which translates to higher overall costs in the final calculation.
Particle Fineness: Finer ink particles mean better protection for printheads
Request particle size analysis reports from suppliers. Eliminate any ink with a D100 value exceeding 1.0 μm outright. Coarse particles continuously abrade printheads during daily production, and such long-term wear costs must be factored into your total expenditure.
Batch-to-Batch Consistency
Demand three consecutive months of color difference test reports from suppliers. A ΔE value above 0.5 indicates inconsistent coloration within a single tile batch — one downtime session for color calibration will cut production capacity by 2 to 4 hours.
OBOOC Ceramic Inks: Your Cost-Effective Premium Choice
Fuzhou OBOOC Technology Co., Ltd. undertook the national Ministry of Science and Technology research project on Ceramic Digital Printing Inks back in 2009, making us one of China’s pioneering enterprises dedicated to this sector.
1. Outstanding color development power with a broad color gamut, enabling precise reproduction of natural textures;
2. Evenly dispersed ink components resist sedimentation and delamination during storage and application. Filled via a three-stage filtration system, our inks drastically reduce printhead clogging risks;
3. In the architectural ceramics industry, OBOOC keeps innovating upgraded functional inks featuring thermal insulation, antibacterial, photovoltaic, anti-static and other properties to meet market demand for functional ceramic tiles.
Our company has passed environmental acceptance inspection and obtained ISO 9000 Quality Management System Certification and ISO 14000 Environmental Management System Certification. We are an enterprise prioritized for government support. As domestic ceramic ink technology matures rapidly, drawing on over a decade of R&D experience, OBOOC delivers a reliable solution balancing cost efficiency and premium quality for ceramic manufacturers.
